How to Get Rid of Redness on Face

There are many reasons why there is redness on face. It can be due to allergic reaction, acne or Rosacea. Whatever the reason is, it all boils down to low self esteem. Having a low self esteem affects many activities of an individual. Depression and social isolation may occur. These are some reasons why redness on face should be addressed. It is always recommended to address the condition on it early course so to prevent severity and additional damage physically, financially and emotionally.

If you are having redness on face, follow these simple steps in order to eliminate it.

  1. Know first the reason of occurrence. If it is brought about by climate change or after hugging a pet dog, then that might be an allergic reaction. If redness on the face is seen on the cheeks and nose with blemishes and broken capillaries, then that might be Rosacea. If the redness on your face is brought about by tiny or big bumps with or without pus, then that might be acne.
  2. Have your check up. Go and see your dermatologist. It is always best to consult a professional that can take care of your skin needs that just buying over-the-counter medications or do self medication.
  3. If you do not have money yet for consultation and you already suffer mild redness on face, you can do things to prevent worsening of your condition. Avoid soaps or creams with Benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxyl acids, vitamin C, toners with alcohol, minty ingredients and anti redness creams with hydrocortisone.  Do not use exfoliating soaps or scrubs as this worsens inflammation of the skin thus contributing to more redness. If you wish to clean your face, use mild cleansers that are non comedogenic and water base.
  4. If the cause of the redness is due to allergic reactions, it can be treated with antihistamines. Prevention is better than cure with allergies. Stay away from known allergens to avoid recurrence of redness.
  5. If you suffer Rosacea, mild cases actually do not need treatment and make up can be used to hide redness on face. You can use yellow tinted concealing cream to mask the redness. Be sure that the concealing is not oil based and is hypoallergenic.
  6. Enhance the defense of your skin especially if you always experience frequent ace breakouts. Use non comedogenic soaps and water based. Benzoyl peroxide or tretinoin is good for the skin. Combat oiliness with glycolic acid. Oily skin is actually a precursor of acne. Apply sun block that is water based. The most important thing with acne is not to squeeze it. Let your dermatologist take care of it.
  7. Always follow your treatment regimen to totally eradicate redness on face. Do not stop until your dermatologist say so. Also, be faithful with follow up check-ups.
