I’ve always been fond of reading. Especially reading on the bed. Because I have mild insomnia, I need to read a good or boring book in order to get tired. But its always a struggle to read on the bed. That’s the past tense. I have since found something that made reading on the bed a pleasure. Its called the bed rest pillow. In this article I’m going to be talking about bed rest pillow and how you should go about choosing it. Why you should get one and what’s the general benefit.
First of all, a bed rest pillow is like a mini chair that sits on your bed. It just doesn’t have legs. Its basically made to support your back when you’re reading on the bed. So that your back or neck isn’t strained by all that reading. It keeps your alignment straight while keeping you really comfortable. (Depending on what type of pillow you buy, this can vary from person to person.)
The other benefit of using a back rest pillow is the arm rest feature. I love it! I used to have sore and tired arms after reading for just 20 minutes, but now I can read for hours and not have my arms tired. This is great for me but not great for the missus unfortunately. She hates my new pillow!
If you want something more comfortable, you should get a bed lounge pillow. This is basically a bigger version of the bed rest pillow. With higher price of course. But its worth it actually, if you need the extra features. What kind of features I’m talking about? Well features like having a cup holder and some compartments to keep your books and other stuff. (like glasses perhaps?)
This is really useful for those who doesn’t have a table at the side of the bed or for those who prefer to read until they’re almost asleep. (Waking up to put the glasses and books away is generally a pain for most people.)
As you can see, choosing a pillow with arms is largely dependent on your needs. I can’t choose one for you. Of course, this is not a one stop article for choosing a reading pillow. You should do more research, better yet, go to the stores and have a look for yourself.
